Tips For Chicks Rocking MileyCyrus Short Hair

If there is one thing that has been the talk of Hollywood hair this year, it's definitely been the new haircut of Miley Cyrus. Call me crazy, but I'm going against the majority with this one because I absolutely adore Miley's new look!  Everyone is still obsessed with the little girl image that Disney created for Miley Cyrus as she hit the limelight, and I thoroughly believe that this is the exact reason why everyone is hating on Miley's new do. I absolutely love her for coming out of a Disney made-image and growing into herself while not caring about what the world around her is thinking. Whether your reasons for rocking a shorty do is similar to Miley's, or you're simply wanting to rock something riskier and edgier, these tips will definitely help you do so confidently. Plus, if you've been used to long luscious locks all this time, it can seem difficult learning the new ways of your swag.

GET PRODUCT HAPPY because you most certainly don't want your short hair to lay flat on your head. That would just look ridiculous right? Plus, you didn't like flat hair when it was longer, so why would you opt for it when it's shorter. Opt for some fabulous volumizing products that will allow you to add that oomph to your do. Waxes are perfect for tweaking and twisting certain peaks, while mousses may be the ultimate companion for drama.

PLAY WITH YOUR BANGS for the days that you're desiring a different look. Often times, people assume that with shorter hair, your creativity with hair styles gets blown away with a hair dryer. This couldn't be any more untrue. The easiest way to implement a look opposite from your normal appearance is by playing around with your bangs. Stick them up, sway them sideways, twist them down. Play around with them frequently to always ensure a switch up in your style.

IRONS OF ALL SORTS can certainly help provide a unique look per every day of the week. Just because you don't have much hair to straighten or curl doesn't mean that you have to completely overlook the idea of it. Instead, switch up your straightening days with crimping ones, to curling ones. Of course, you want to be extra cautious with your curlers because you don't want to look like your Grandma... Who's been in heaven for years already.

ENHANCE YOUR FEATURES. Although this isn't a hair styling tip, it will certainly help provide the look that you want to achieve with your short hairdo. Sharp, distinct features will bring out your true beauty which is thoroughly emanated with a shorter hair cut. Certain makeup looks will provide different appearances overall.

If you've been living under a rock, let's update you. Miley Cyrus cut her long luscious locks off for a rather Boy George inspired look. She has shaved sides, and she lets her platinum blonde hair no longer sway, but spike. Now you can look just as sexily daring as Miley does, with these fascinating tips on rocking a shorter look.

Things of Sentimental Value

Happy Easter! I hope you all have something amazing planned for the weekend; especially if you have time off..... Party, party, party, just kidding. But hey, having a day off is something to be happy about. For today's  blog I want to talk to you ladies about something that has great value to you. A lot of the time the things we find valuable are given to us in our childhood, or given to us by someone especial. However it may be something that no longer fits us or something that is too childish. Nonetheless, it's something that can be used to decorate or maybe it can be worn differently. So ladies, don't store away the things that have sentimental value! Here are a couple of things that you can do.

Childish Item: Alright, most of the time people think "that's too childish to keep out in the open" and perhaps it is. But you can always keep it in your room, and if you share a room with your boyfriend or husband they will understand why that item means so much to you. If it's a teddy bear, you can put it anywhere and it will look cute. Oh, it's always those stuffed animals that bring you the greatest warmth and smile (yes, yes, I'm speaking for myself). And hey many people like passing it on to their children.

Clothing/Shoes: A lot of the time it's our mothers who keep our clothing and shoes in the memory box! And when she takes them out, we are amazed to see how tiny we were. But what can we do with all that stuff? Because, of course no one wants to throw it out. When it comes to the little shoes, you can hang them on your car. With clothing it's a little harder; because you can't wear it, and you can't just place it for display. However if you have stuffed a animal or a favourite doll that you kept, you can dress the stuffed animals or the doll. Again, when it comes to clothing and shoes, you may be able to pass it down to your children.

Jewelry: Jewelry is the most common things passed down to generations. But what to do when it doesn't fit you? Well my friends you have three options. One you can take to a jeweller so he or she can make it bigger or smaller. Two you can tell the jeweller to make something else out of it. Or three depending on what it is, you can wear it and rocket in your on way. If it's a ring, wear it around your neck. If a necklace is too small, just switch the chain and keep the locket/gem. And you can do the same thing with a bracelet. As you can see ladies, option number three seems more favourable because you would still pass down the SAME jewelry to future generations, but to each it's own.

Okay, there you have it. Keeping things of sentimental value is much greater than having something that's worth a lot, because something that has sentimental value is not replaceable. So ladies, take care of the things that are passed down to you, and be grateful for them. Because one day sooner or later, you too will pass down those same items, and share your stories. With those thoughts in mind I say goodbye. Happy Easter.

Where You From? You Sexy Thang....Sexy Thang You

This week I am going to introduce some lower body workouts. [Friends do not let friends forget leg days!] You do not want to be super fit and then don some shorts and find that those chicken legs are still there. Plus working on your legs help tone your booty and its always a bonus to have a nice, perky and toned behind.

[Leg Workouts]
The four muscle groups in the thigh region we are going to focus on today are the anterior thigh muscles, posterior thigh muscles, adductor muscles (medial thigh muscle-inside thigh), and abductor muscles (lateral thigh muscle-outside thigh). This will help create a nice toned muscle group all around.

Please select the video below. She shows some awesome workouts that you can do in the privacy of your home, during lunch, at the mall, or at the gym.

First Workout: Jump Squats
I know we've covered squats already but squats are a great workout for the lower body. You have gravity and your natural weight to help build and tone muscle and you can even make it harder by adding 5, 7, or 10 pound weights in each hand. Remember, the last couple repetitions should cause you to feel a burn. If you do not feel a burn, the workout is only slightly working your muscles. Add some weight to increase the productivity of your muscles. Do 3 sets of 10-15 or until the last couple create a burn in your thighs. Side Note: Great cardio workout too! Keep your heart rate pumping by jumping into the squat and back into standing position quickly. Increase reps and sets to get a good cardio workout in.

Important Notes:
  • Do not let your knees extend past your toes
  • Keep your back straight and head aligned with your spine
  • Act as if you are sitting in a chair when you bend
  • When you jump back up, don't forget to squeeze your booty
  • Let your legs form a 90 degree angle at your knees to complete a solid repetition
  • Do not let your knees bow inward

Second Workout: Balancing Stick Pose
The second workout is using the yoga pose "balancing stick". This is a great workout that targets your thighs and butt. Do not be worried about your balance and you do not have to use a weight if you do not want to. If you feel that your balance is not good enough, feel free to place a chair in arms reach and help it stabilize you. However, do not allow your weight to rest on the chair. This will defeat the purpose of the workout and you might as well not do it. Allow the chair to lightly balance you but allow your weight to still remain on the standing leg. Do 3 sets of 5-8, holding 3-5 seconds each time. Increase weight to increase difficulty. Repeat on other leg.

Important Notes:

  • Keep your standing leg slightly bent. This will fire the muscles in the standing leg more than if it were straight up and down.
  • Keep your toe to head aligned as you balance forward.
  • You do not have to go all the way horizontal if you can't. Challenge yourself to go a little further forward each time you do this.
Third Workout: What I Like To Call The Urinating Dog. Terrible isn't it? haha
This is such a dumb looking workout. It feels silly to do but it targets your butt SO WELL! And after a few reps you will definitely feel the burn. Great booty mover. Do 3 sets of 7-10. Repeat on other leg.

Important Notes:
  • Try not to shift your to the other side too much. A little is understandable but do not let your body lean. Tighten your core to keep you stable. This will allow you to use your butt and abductor muscles to lift your leg rather than your body.
  • Keep the movement slow and controlled. Your butt and abductor muscles should be lifting your leg for you.
  • Do not arch your back when you bring your foot up behind you. Control the movement up and as high as you can make it WITHOUT arching your back.
  • Back should be straight from head to tailbone. Keep your eyes forward toward the ground.
Fourth Workout: Straight Leg Crossovers
This is another nice booty workout. Important notes are the same above. Do 3 sets of 7-10. Repeat on other leg.

Fifth Workout: Leg Raise
I remember my mom doing these and me mimicking her! It targets your abductor and adductor muscles (the outer and inner thigh). For this workout, you will be doing two different sets: lead with heel and lead with toe. Do 3 sets of each, 5-8 reps. Repeat on other leg.

Important Notes:
  • To make it more difficult, keep your bottom leg straight with your body rather than bent.
[Cardio]
This week's cardio will be the same: running?! WHAT?! Again?! But a little different. Go to a basketball court and stand under the hoop at one end. Here are the variations for your run:
  1. Walk the length of the court to the other side.
  2. Jog to half court, walk the rest of the way.
  3. Sprint to the other side.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3, 3-4 times. Then walk the length of the court twice for cool down.

Wardrobe Cleaning

And the beginning of the work/school week is here, yet again. Let’s make this week a productive one. For today's blog we will be discussing wardrobe cleaning. Everyone should do it at least twice a year. But what to do with all that unwanted clothing? Well there is a couple of things that you can do with them. However if you have something in your closet that's old and worn out, it's best to let go and replace it with something new. For all the other good quality clothing that you no longer wish to wear, here is what you can do.

Donation: Donating is a great thing, and there are different types donations you can do. There are three to be exact.

I) Someone You Know: You can give away your clothing to someone one you know, like a family member or a friend. She would very much appreciate it; and you will feel happy to know that your clothing is still being well taken care of.

II) Community Donation: Take your best garments to a thrift shop ( I know it's technically not a donation, but if you have no one to give it to, it's good to give it to thrift shops so other women can enjoy your old clothing). Depending on where you live, you can also put your garments in a donation bin; these bins are usually placed in different areas on the city.

III) Ship Away: Okay, you may be thinking what, who would I ship it to? well ladies,  ship it to third world countries! Young women in third world countries will highly benefit from your old clothing. Or if you know someone who lives on a country of poverty send it to them. Always keep in mind what you're throwing out ladies, there is a lot of people who can benefit from them.

Remake: Okay, there is another option for the old garments you don't want to get rid of. If you're a woman who is creative with her hands, and knows how to sow. Girl get creative with your old fabrics. Make something new and cute out of them.

That is all I have for you today my friends. Always remember, it's important to make room for new clothing, and it's an act of kindness to donate things to people who will benefit from them. I'll leave you with those thoughts on mind. Happy cleaning ;)

Twist Your Hair Into A Summer Style

Ladies, just because the clouds are still fogging our sunshine inspired hair tutorials doesn't mean that we have to commit to sleek, slick, static hair day in and out. Just saying the words sleek, slick and static remind me exactly why I'm so over this winter season. Technically, it is Spring already, but you wouldn't know that if you're anywhere in the north. Brrrrr. That's all I can say. As for my hair, all it's saying is breakage. It's awful, and rather depressing. As if the weather was blue enough to make you eager for summer, right? You don't need bikini weather and the sandy shores to be able to enjoy the hair of those sunshine filled days that offer phenomenal beach waves for your hair, although that would certainly be amazing! Until the temperature scale starts showing hotter days, enjoy this quick tutorial to satisfying your inner eagerness for days spent on the sandy shores.

The first thing that you need to do is TWIST your hair, but before we get there, you do need to part your hair into two sections. I do recommend four, but it depends on the thickness and texture of your hair. Only you can determine what works best for you so be sure to play around with a variety of sections to get the beach waves you desire. For the sake of this tutorial, let's say you're opting for two sections. Once you have parted your hair into those two sections, one on each side of your head, twist it. You know when you see that cute guy from class and you automatically start twisting your hair around your finger? Well do that, only don't let it unravel. Twist it around and around and around, and hold.

*TIP* Since you do have to hold the twist in as an elastic will allow it to unravel, it's easier to do one section at a time.

Take your hot iron and lightly clamp it over your twisted section and drag it down to the tips. Do this several times until you feel that your whole entire twist is heated, inside and out. Don't immediately let go of your twisted section though. Heat it, and then wait until it has cooled down, as the heat creates the style and the coolness will hold it.

TWIST, HEAT, COOL, REVEAL

Do the exact same on the other side of your head, with your second section. Once you have completed both sides, allowing your twists to heat the style and cool to hold it, let your twists unravel to reveal a stunning beachy look that is totally effortless. It takes next to no time and you are able to rock that adored beach appearance that everyone else is waiting for the perfect weather to be able to indulge in.

Keep it your little secret, or share these insider style tips.

Iron-Strong

Happy Friday ladies, and let the weekend begin! I’m hoping you all had a good work/school week. In this blog we will be discussing the importance of iron, especially for women, since we tend to loose blood monthly. Iron deficiency (anemia) makes people tired, and I mean, much more tired than usual. This is, as you probably guess problematic. Feeling weak and fatigued doesn’t sound at all pleasing. So, how are we supposed to obtain iron? Well, let’s take a further look.

Pills: If you don’t like your  veggies, you can get over the counter iron pills. This may be the ultimate route even for people who do eat their veggies. The reason for this is because you can take them with other morning supplements. If you are the type of person who always forgets to take your pills, do not worry; instead set a daily alarm for when to take them. Trust me, it will work out, I do it myself every time I want to remember something.

Fruits and Veggies: A lot of people think that iron can just be found in veggies, but that not the case. There are in fact many fruits that carry iron, however, there is a catch….They must be dried fruits. It’s a weird concept, but dried fruit is still very much delicious. Here are some of the dried fruits you can eat, apples, apricots, pairs, raisins, and figs. When it comes to vegetables it’s good to eat asparagus, spinach, broccoli, olives, and parsley. These are just some of the most common fruits and veggies that contain Iron, there are many more.

Meats: Oh, what best way is there to obtain iron then by eating meats? They are loaded! And they contain a lot of protein as well. It’s a like a two for one deal. And let me inform you, that I’m not exclusively talking about red meat. Red meat of course contains a lot of iron, but other meats, such as chicken, turkey salmon, tuna, and clams also contain iron. So if you don’t like red meat, then you can eat chicken.

Other Iron Rich Foods: eggs yolks contain a lot of iron, of course is you have high cholesterol they are a no go. But if you don’t, cook your eggs sunny side up. Another great source of iron is beans, whether they are black beans, or refried. Lentils, similar to beans contain plenty of iron. Perhaps it’s time to have lentil soup?

Okay ladies, as you can see there are a lot of way is which iron can be obtained. It’s all about eating right. And like I mentioned before women do tend to suffer more from iron deficiency (anemia) do to the loss of blood.  Therefore we must take extra care! I hope this blog was instructive. Have a great and wonderful Friday.
